The Global Refugee Labor Mobility Summit has come to and end after a full week of energized events. The final sessions of the week took place on Thursday and included a presentation on ‘Innovative Finance Options for Refugees’, two workshops on labor mobility processes and TBB’s Talent Catalog, as well as an open consultation titled ‘Defining Labour Mobility Principles and Standards.’

The finance session presented an overview of costs in different destination countries, common challenges, principles, and the expected financial commitments from the different actors involved throughout the process. This was followed by a presentation of Pathway Club by John Cameron (Co-Founder of TBB and Pathway Club), a revolving fund created to support displaced people who have secured job offers and en route to a new country.

In the workshops, TBB spoke about the multiple stages of the labor mobility process, including its 10-module approach, which was followed by a walk through of the Talent Catalog and opened the floor to participant questions on the practical aspects of the process. Another key topic was the importance of partners to explore potential new ways to scale country programs and increase candidate enrollment in the Talent Catalog through third-parties and autonomous access.

“When we talk about impact, it’s not about one organization’s results but about our collective work. This way, we can show that a win is not just a fluke.  We need to share a collective story,’’ said Zeynep Yurdoglu, TBB Global Program Manager

By aiming to come up with a shared understanding between states, employers, partners, and other stakeholders, Stephanie Cousins (TBB CEO) chaired a consultation on Thursday to define Labor Mobility Principles and Standards. The concluding session had the objective of gathering attendee inputs on key attributes to be encouraged, recommendations and base principles. Attendees were divided into subgroups where everyone shared their opinions and came up  with feedback that would help formulate a guiding principles document.

The Job Fair at the final two days of the Global Refugee Labor Mobility Summit was undoubtedly the perfect end to a week-long gathering of the labor mobility ecosystem.

A number of employers from countries such as Australia and Canada,  got the unique opportunity to interview candidates at the end of the week both in-person and online. Including the international company Animal Logic, whose COO Sharon Taylor worked with TBB to establish the optimal interviewing arrangements were facilitated to the candidates.

Tens of potential hires met with representatives from different companies who started the recruitment process.  Moreover, TBB offered mock interviews and prep sessions for applicants waiting to have their interviews in the coming days.

Also as part of the Job Fair, the TBB UK team delivered interview prep sessions for 20 candidates who will be completing interviews with a global tech industry leader. The sessions went through the job opportunity, the training program and finished with interview practice. Our staff were impressed by the commitment and the tech skills demonstrated throughout the day.

We are thrilled with the outcomes of the Summit and our teams are ready to  take forward and materialize the commitments and connections that took place in Amman.
