This key Report Program Generator Developer role involves creating applications for our employer’s customers to buy and manage policies online, as well as developing internal applications for staff. You'll focus on creating reliable REST APIs essential for business operations, collaborating within cross-functional agile teams led by a Product Owner and Scrum Master. Software is delivered through agile practices and deployed using Rocket Aldon Lifecycle Manager, working alongside a team of 60 developers and testers.
Responsibilities:
Design and develop free format Report Program Generator code to achieve sprint goals and deliver value to business partners.
Contribute to the design and development of modern APIs for customer data stored in the iSeries database.
Take ownership of the product and suggest improvement and innovation ideas.
Collaborate with front-end developers to provide REST APIs in various interfacing languages.
Enhance and build upon business rules using Object-Oriented implementation.
Contribute to best practices in testing, including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
Ensure the integrity of customer data while facilitating interactions in online and consultant-facing applications.
Participate in a cross-functional Scrum team and engage in all Scrum ceremonies, including planning, estimating, and retrospectives, while contributing to continuous improvement of team processes.
Assist in support and deployment activities as needed.
Perform other reasonable and relevant tasks as requested to meet operational requirements.
Qualifications:
Upper-Intermediate proficiency in English (5.5 - 6.0 IELTS level)
5+ years of proven commercial experience in modern Report Program Generator development.
Excellent knowledge and experience in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
Proficient in free format Report Program Generator Development and embedded DB2 SQL.
Strong expertise in modernizing legacy codebases to enhance performance.
Comprehensive knowledge of RESTful API design and development.
Experience using RDi and Aldon tools.
Familiarity with monitoring tools such as New Relic.
Knowledge of XML and JSON data formats.
Proficient in using the Atlassian suite (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket).
Preferred experience in source code management.
Experience building test scripts using SoapUI.
Proven ability to create highly available and reliable server-side code.
Competence in writing and maintaining detailed technical documentation.
A background in financial services applications is a plus.
