The employer is a leading research hub focused on nano- and digital technology innovation for improving quality of life, particularly in the semiconductor industry. As a SEM engineer your task will be to support the different services within the MECHA team at imec. You will be responsible for tools and processes.

Responsibilities:

  • You have experience in SEM inspections and are up-to date on the current limitations and possibilities of the tools with a focus on semi-conductor materials.

  • You investigate and optimize FIB and SEM inspections and strive for operation excellence / first time right.

  • You are responsible for a certain tool set: you evaluate problems, monitor tool performance, and propose improvements.

  • You work closely with Operations: you proactively coordinate and follow-up team performance / queues, you act as a mentor and a back-up trainer, and even support Operations in case of lack of resources.

  • You are co-owner in achieving the different targets set within the department: ensure quality delivery on time.

  • You detect potential efficiency and quality risks and take the appropriate action.

Qualifications:

  • Fluent knowledge of English, with good communication skills.

  • Preferably a master’s degree in materials sciences, physics, chemistry, or you have several years of hands-on experience with automated metrology, SEM inspections within the semiconductor industry.

  • You are a good communicator, team player, and eager to learn.

  • You are prepared to work in full rotating shift system: early, late, and one weekend per month.

  • Being strong in planning, prioritizing, multitasking and applying a hands-on approach

  • Good report writing skills, good analytical skills and desire to learn more about new semiconductor materials and advanced structures are essential for a successful implementation of this role.
