Introducing the TBB UK Alumni Advisory Committee
We are delighted to present the UK Alumni Advisory Committee, a first-of-its-kind initiative launched in September. This pioneering committee brings together five individuals from diverse backgrounds, all sharing a common mission – to serve and empower the alumni community in the UK while actively contributing to the development of TBB’s UK program.
Their contributions will be invaluable to improving integration support for newcomers and strengthening labour mobility pathways overall.
Meet the UK AAC Members
Rawan
Hailing from the Palestinian territories, I grew up in the Shatila refugee camp in Lebanon. In 2019, I earned my degree in information management systems. My journey led me to work with an NGO in Lebanon, where I also served as the Team Leader Assistant for the Palestinian civil defence. The year 2023 allowed me to relocate to the UK with Vialto Partners, where I now work as a UK Inbound Associate in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
I joined the AAC because I'm passionate about assisting fellow refugees on their immigration journey, especially in the UK, where I'm steadily building my expertise.
Fayzeh
It has been two years since I left Al Rashiedieh camp to start a new life in London. I currently work as a staff nurse with the NHS. I decided to join this committee to give back to the community and offer a helping hand to others. Together, we aim to change the narrative surrounding refugees and showcase their talents, starting with our involvement in national and international events focused on refugees themselves.
Ammar
Originally from Palestine, born and raised in Syria, I've called London home for the past six months. By profession, I'm a Web Developer and Senior Coding Trainer at Re: Coded. I joined the AAC to support fellow alumni in navigating life in the UK and share my journey's experiences. I'm eager to help build a community and put my skills to good use.
Karim
I work in the multimedia field as a graphic designer/animator at Good Humans in London. I am Syrian and lived in Jordan before I received the offer to relocate to the UK.
As a TBB alumni, being part of the AAC community is a great opportunity to give back to give back. We aim to empower TBB's alumni community right from their arrival in the UK. I want to contribute to decisions and plans that nurture the growth of this community, creating a safe and encouraging environment for alumni to engage and make a difference in their new home. Additionally, this experience will provide valuable insights as I pursue postgraduate studies in the humanitarian field.
This opportunity will also provide me with experience and knowledge in the humanitarian field, which will be helpful as I am looking to pursue postgraduate studies in the near future. I look forward to working alongside TBB to support their endeavours for expansion around the world as a leading force in displaced talent recruitment.
Firass
Born and raised in Lebanon with a Palestinian refugee background, I've lived in the UK since September 2021. During this time, I've assumed various roles in the healthcare sector, starting as a Healthcare Assistant and progressing to become a staff nurse and later a senior nurse at a private hospital in London. I'm now about to embark on a new adventure as the Lead Nurse in the Oncology/Radiotherapy outpatient center in Guildford.
My passion for helping others and sharing my knowledge and experiences in the UK led me to join the UK AAC. I'm committed to making the transition easier for fellow refugees.
