TBB and Fragomen in conversation on World Refugee Day

To mark the occasion of World Refugee Day 2023, our CEO Steph Cousins sat down with Fragomen Managing Partner, David Crawford, and Director of Global Advocacy for Displaced Talent, David Manicom to speak about about the important partnership between our two organizations, and what it means for refugee labour mobility globally.

Highlights:

2:39 | David C reflects on the “unusual” approach that brings Fragomen and TBB together “Traditionally, immigration countries think about humanitarian visas, or refugees, in one slot; and skilled of economic migration in another. We come together to be able to bridge that gap, and it’s a wonderful thing to do”.

4:51 | Steph explains about how the Global Refugee Labour Mobility Summit held in Jordan earlier this year (co-hosted by TBB and Fragomen) helped to put refugee labour mobility “on the map” and positioned it as “a solution with a humanitarian outcome” - but driven by people who aren’t necessarily used to working in the humanitarian sphere.

8:32 | David C addresses the challenges of scaling this solution within the duration of TBB’s five-year strategic plan and beyond.

15:56 | Steph talks about how TBB is more that some kind of recruitment agency for refugees, and outlines the organisation’s “social change mission”.

27:27 | Steph and David C reflect on what drives, personally, to work on this solution - and what makes them effective in their work.
