TBB Releases Publication on Labour Mobility Pathways for Refugees in Uganda

Uganda is host to more than 1.6 million refugees from countries like South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Somalia, Eritrea, Burundi, Sudan, Rwanda, and Ethiopia. With rapidly decreasing resources available to refugees in Uganda, third-country solutions have become even more important. Opportunities for relocation through resettlement, family reunification, or refugee labor mobility demonstrate support for refugees and host communities. Opportunities for refugees to relocate also create opportunities to send remittances to relatives who remain in Uganda or their countries of origin.

Refugee labor mobility programs can open the doors for these refugees to gain access to long-term residency, allow them to use their skills and training, and benefit employers and refugees in new communities.

We’re excited to share our latest publication, Labor Mobility Pathways for Refugees in Uganda, which explores refugee talent from the lens of Uganda, sharing lessons and recommendations that can be applied more broadly as candidate recruitment and support efforts continue to grow worldwide.
