Hire displaced talent

Gain a talented new employee and demonstrate your corporate values to the world.

Refugees have skills. Employers need talent. We connect them.

Refugees are software developers, chefs, welders, nurses, and engineers – yet it is almost impossible for them to obtain a skilled work visa if they cannot show a passport, provide proof of their work experience, or safely complete a police check in their country of origin. While many displaced people have highly marketable skills, administrative barriers have prevented them from accessing international migration opportunities – until now.

Talent Beyond Boundaries matches skilled refugees with job opportunities around the world. It’s win-win: employers are able to fill skills gaps by tapping into a brand new talent pool, and refugees given the chance to rebuild their lives and careers with dignity and purpose.

To date, we have negotiated special visa programs for displaced talent with the governments of Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

  • Australia’s Skilled Refugee Labour Agreement Pilot was launched in July 2021.

The pilot will give 200 skilled refugees the opportunity to move to Australia, with their families, to work in one of 683 approved occupations. Learn more on the Department of Home Affairs website.

  • Canada’s Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP) was launched in April 2018 and is currently in Phase II. EMPP Phase II introduced a number of facilitative measures to reduce some barriers refugees face when accessing labour mobility pathways.

The pilot will give 500 skilled refugees the opportunity to move to Canada, with their families through existing economic immigration pathways.

For more information, please read the public policy here.

  • The UK’s Displaced Talent Mobility Pilot was launched in July 2021.

Over the next 1-2 years, the pilot will give approximately 50-100 primary applicants and their families the opportunity to move to the UK for work in a variety of critical fields including IT, construction, and engineering.

Visa pathways

  • Australia

We work with the Australian Government to deliver the Skilled Refugee Labour Agreement Pilot program. The two-year Pilot was launched in July 2021 and designed in collaboration with TBB.

  • Canada

TBB is a trusted partner in implementing the Government of Canada’s Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP). We work in collaboration with Jumpstart, a national refugee-led organization.

  • UK & Europe

We work with the UK Home Office to deliver the Displaced Talent Mobility Pilot, co-designed by TBB. Under the pilot, employers can sponsor displaced candidates via the Skilled Worker Route.

  • United States

Refugees can access employment in the U.S. through the H-1B and EB-3 visas. In this phase of our U.S. programming, TBB is partnering only with uncapped H-1B employers.

Finding new ways to address talent shortages is an economic imperative. The global refugee population can be part of the solution.
